Did I Bust the Valves?

I closed all the radiator valves to clean our 80 year old boiler with TSP(it's a single pipe steam system). After opening the valves back up, 4 of the 16 radiators aren't heating at all. Four others are gurgling and making a big racket that sounds like there's a loose piece of metal inside the valve. All the valves seemed to open normally, but I think something came loose inside them. And it's blocking the steam and condensate. I'm going to have to take them apart, right? Does this happen a lot?
