How Do I Check Heat Exchanger for Damage?

We have a copper tube/fin boiler that is about 5 years old.
It seems like it is heating well, and it does not leak.
I am wondering, though, how would I be able to check it to determine if the heat exchanger was damaged from overheating, etc.
Originally, it was not piped right. And we are nearing the end of the warranty period with our contractor.
    Thanks.

If no leaks and heats well...may be only time will tell...you can see the HX with a mechanic mirror.

    As far as I know,

unless you're willing to take the whole thing apart and go over the HX with a ultr-sound probe, I doubt that you'll discover just how thick the walls in th HX still are. That's how the airline industry does it for their plane bodies, IIRC.

    checking heat exchanger

There's only way to really check the exchanger and it's not a bad idea to clean it at the same time and that's removing the burners and taking off the top. It's best to have whoever repiped your system to do this. It's nice to have gas and CO testing equipment after doing this work. This way you can look at the tubes and see if they warped and damaged. You may not be able to cash in on a warranty if the tubes are warped because improper installion and then maybe you could.
