Thanks, HB; I've installed several dozen of the GS1 model. As you know, it replaced the RN series. The burners have been re-designed without the carbon rods, which were somewhat of a problem. The Vitoronic 200 is a very stable platform. I tend to use this model on gravity CI replacements or high temp applications. A full port bypass must be installed on the boiler outlet, is system water content is over 3x boiler content, or if system temp is not over 130 within 5 min of boiler startup. I always use the boiler stand to make the machine easier to work on.
I really like this boiler, the Vitodens is not best for ALL applications.

3rd heating conversion...this time removing CFT basebaord and convectors and replacing with wall panel radiators and 3 RFH zones using the Oventrop UniBox; Viessmann Vitogas GS1 boiler with V300-79 indirect and Vitotronic 200 control. We put a full port bypass at the boiler to prevent condensation, and use the A pump circuit, rather than a 4way valve. The original gravity mains were replaced 30 years ago... we removed the existing copper mains and repiped with new copper and Pex-Al-Pex to the new radiators.

Hey Paul, where did you get the V-300?
Nice looking job. They should see a substantial improvement in comfort and efficiency with the changes you have made. -DF

V300
I think it came from Ken...:) (only kidding) Apparently V300-79g tanks are not back ordered in Seattle.

Nice Work, Paul!
Yet another install that could have been found in an equipment sales brochure. Bravo.0 -
paul looks like a nice setup just wondering it's hard to see from the picture but is there enough room between the tank and boiler to get to the back and change the cerc if it needed. and maybe take good use of that outlet above so you can plug in a power tool
thanks

Tight, but of course...
We always pipe for ergonomic repairs....and always put an outlet on the boiler disconnect for tools or meters.

Is that the same house?
I think that's terrazzo?
That is one of the best before & after images I think Ive seen. Maybe some day the homeowners will give us the entire West Wing to perform our multimedia sculpture. (G) Till then we get the basement.
Seems strange that the straps are on the water heater and not the boiler. What's up with that?
As always Paul, Nice.

Congoleum
on the floor in the mech rm and basement bath. After we finished, the owner was soory she didn't listen to my case for a radiant floor over the existing concrete slab. She also wanted hydronic TBwarmers in some of the baths...too late or VERY expensive to retrofit.

EQ restraint
is required on all water tanks and exp tanks in our area because of earthquakes. For some reason, the boiler is not required to be secured. Since all the hard piping attaching the S/R is secured with UniStrut and clamps, it would take one heck of a shake to move the equipment. Since most water heaters use a gas or electric tank, a tank that falls over in a quake could start a fire by electric short or gas leak. Indirects are obviously not a fire hazard, but I've no time to do code battles. There are already too many nuances in the code that disturb me.

Geez, I just saw this.
Great work, Paul. It's hard to believe, but I haven't installed a GS boiler yet. Do you like them as much as the previous RN series? There was an error rendering this rich post.
