Yes, you should be OK if you know how to drain and how to fill it up again and then get rid of the air.

i have a gas boiler and 3 zones. one of the circulators needs to be replaced. i know how to drain that loop but im sure its not as simple as drain and replace (loop is AFTER circulator - need to stop water before it somehow). the electric part is cake but i need some help pointers with the plumbing

    thanks

    Taco circ

If it is a cartridge circ, and only the mootor is bad, just unscrew the 4 bolts, disconnect the wires and exhance with a new one.

    For any type of circ:
If you have to change the housing, AND you have isolation ball valve before and after the circ, shut them down and undue the flange bolts. Be careful to clean all the old gaskets and replace with new ones and tighten bolts, connect teh wires.

If you do not have valves before/after, much messier job that may require draining the water from system, at least until level is below the circ. Get someone who has done this before and comfortable sweating pipes and wiring. OR call a repairman. Do it now, they do not just heal.

no valve before the circulator but its well above the boiler.. if i turn the water supply to the boiler off then drain that loop (and probabaly have to drain the other 2) will i be ok? the circulator is a bolt on so no sweating needed.
