alberta custom tee
thanks for the steer to this great website. Stuff is laid out simply and these are just the kind of manifolds I was looking for.
Unfortunately, their affection for the internet age ends with product depiction. I can't get prices or buy them from alberta-tee. Their distributor for New England gave me a name of a company in RI to deal with that has never even heard of custom tee or sold one.
This is not the kind of distribution network that is going to get them anywhere.
I am trying to explain to the guy who is looking through his Zurn book that I am not looking for a Zurn manifold. I am looking for a Custom Tee Manifold.
He trys to explain to me that there are different manufacturers of pex and they carry Zurn. I'm explaining that these Custom Tees look to be an aftermarket product that may be labeled and sold by some pex companies but are marketed directly through Custom Tee.
So after an hour of talking to Alberta, Talking to Billerica, talking to Rhode Island, this guy will now be repeating the same process only he has never even seen a custom tee, doesn't seem interested in looking at their site on-line and who knows when and what this will result in and one has to expect the price to reflect paying all these people to know nothing about custom tees.
This is as clumsy as it gets. I'm glad to deal with a local distributor who stocks products I need and is familiar with the line and ready to order and quickly deliver parts of the line they don't stock. But if something is esoteric and not stockeda and the name is not even recognized by the shop I am referred to, I want to buy the damn thing off the company's web site and cut out the 20 middle men. Then when somebody sees my work and likes the unit and asks for it at their distributor, maybe there will be an interest in stocking them.
Rant over.
Does anybody know a distributor in southern new england who knows the custom tee line and stocks a fair sample.
thanks.

far away
AB Custom is in my neighborhood. (opposite end of Continent)
Surely another company in your neck of the woods must hav e a tee drill ???
Triple H in Calgary manufactures panels and has a tee-drill. He makes the same headers that AB Custom Does. But he is in Alberta As well.
if no one has a tee drill, maybe consider buying one and starting up a manifold vendor of your own ?!?
I could sell/price these to you - but I think the "Freight" would kill the price.
let me know,
EINSIEDLER in Edmonton Alberta.

Ran into the same thing
Great looking product that I could use a ton of. Can't find anyone any where in the state of Michigan that knows anything about the company or their product. Aggrivates me to no end. I too, tried to talk Alberta T into just shipping some direct. No dice. E-mailed them 4 times previous to the phone call and never got a response.0 -
When you're looking for a product...
and the people behind the counter give you that "huh?" look; you're probably in the wrong place. And I agree with you it's frustrating. I don't have an answer how to fix it. Kevin0 -
try these guys
http://www.willowspringsdistributing.com/
Although they are in wisconsin they stock a fair amount and would probably ship direct. Ask for Craig or Dan and tell them Justin told you to call them.
Good Luck

Please call
Please call my friend Bob Lee at Shetucket Supply , Norwich, Conn. 860 887 3571 or my friend Joe Peretti at Shetucket Groton Conn. 860 446 1140.
They have 1/2" or 3/4" branches with different spacing and are 6' long , you cut to fit and I think they have some smaller 3 or 4 port manifolds.
They could ship UPS. I have bought several in the past and "assume" they still stock it.

update on the search for the abominable tee
So I have to credit this counter guy with actually finding a way through the maze. The Bell-Simons company that has about 35 outlets around the northeast has one outlet in Maine that stocks these tees. There part numbers and offerings do not remotely compare to anything on the custom-tee web site however. This could be custom-tee's fault.
Sounds like what shetucket has, e.g. six foot runs, 3" spacing cut to order is more the standard of what is available while the website is adorned with models having a specific number of branches. Bell-Simons wanted about $11.50 per leg for the tees with pex valves already installed on the copper. That is a little more expensive thant the Wirsbo 4 bangers I found for $38.90 online. Sorry, I don't have the website saved on this computer. Unfortunately, it was not easy to obtain a comparison of what they would want for tee branches without a valve due to the retailer (odd terminology in our world, I suppose I mean the wholesaler because they sell to contracters although I don't think of myself as retailing this stuff to the customer, ah well semantics)not having any reliable cross reference of part numbers, descriptions and pricing for the entire line readily available.
I will be calling Shetucket supply which is right around the corner from me anyway. If they have been stocking some of these maybe they have a better handle on the line and I would always like to reward early adopters.
The other thing I am trying to ascertain is the suitability of these tees for various brands of pex which I hope Shetucket may have some thoughts on. My assumption is that they would be acceptable for most commonly used crimping methods and brands of pipe as lone as good securing especially in vertical manifold installations (mine are all designed to be horizontal manifolds with vertical branches) is observed but I have yet to find anyone who can confirm that.
Thanks for all the responses and the steer to Shetucket although it looks like anyone near a Bell-Simon outlet can get some of the custom tee line through transshipment from their Maine location in about a week without additional freight charges.
