    Couple of questions...

Very plumb and tidy and some excellent soldering!

I'm a curious homeowner so I hope you can answer a few questions.

Where the boiler connects to the loop, aren't those tees supposed to be less than 12" apart? Most Ultra literature says to pump into the boiler, why did you pump away from the boiler? Is that Y-strainer upside down and backwards?

I think 15 circulators (unless I'm missing some) has to be close to a residential record. ;-)

    Actually

there are a total of 12 zone pumps, one primary loop pump one secondary loop pump, one boiler pump for the heat system and one for the DHW so--17 pumps, that is not a wye strainer, it is swing check valve to prevent pump from pulling water throught the DHW tank during heat calls. The boiler doesn't know that the pump is on one side or the other of the rather small loop, anyway the boiler just needs to see plenty of flow. 12" measurement etc. doesn't seem to be an issue here as all is working beautifully.

    Great piping work

    how many hours?

Do you use different PVC for vent and intake? I see the intake has non pressure rated PVC. I think the vent side requires solid core pressure rated PVC?

Also you may need a check on both the boiler and DHW circs to prevent short circuiting.

Plenty of pump hp :) The Taco rep must take you to lunch often.

    Another strange statistic

Fabulous piping job. Clean & straight. The statistic, the energy consumption from circulators on most big jobs does not have to exceed .08 watts per square foot to meet most all heating loads. And that is with parallel pumping for back-up. In alot of cases it can be close to half of that. Looking at your pics. If you run reset and run all of these together you are in the area of 2000 watts. More than 5 and closer to 10 times what is needed to move the water. I would look into more control strategies.

    Question

Dan fabulous work, I hope the owners appreciate true art.
Is that a purge set up on the returns? 1/2" ball valves piped to a drain cool idea- I hate frozen hoses

    Thanks for the comments
There is a check valve on both the heat side and DHW---
yes that is a purge assy for the entire system-only one
hose connection required-- I agree w/ the comment concerning the wattage etc. Many of the rather small
zones will not run much. I debated over the control strategy. I may look into buying some stock in Taco--
Actually now that you make the suggestion-- mabe I will
ask for a lunch or two:)
