steam heat with hot water loop

A hot water loop on a steam boiler can be done and it works fine.. I just had a hot water loop installed on my steam boiler this week. My bet is that your service tech said bad design because they don't understand steam.

If you have concerns about piping(bad design) post up a picture and these guys will give you an honest opinion.

Also, try the "find a pro" link to find someone more knowledgeable of steam.

And the most important thing to do is buy Dan's book "We Got Steam Heat". Best investment I made for my system... After reading this book, you will have the knowledge to ask the right questions and know when the service tech at your house is "full of it" . The book also has an entire section about installing a hot water loop on a steam boiler and it included a piping diagram.

steam and hot water baseboard system

Can you use a steam system with a hot water baseboard loop? We bought a house and the hot water loop pump burned out. Some people won't repair the system because it is not a good design. Any suggestions on how to get heat in the upstairs? Can this system be fixed? Help!
