We got a no heat call from a tenant who is a customer. We have never serviced the equipment-- the landlord does. The notes on the account said his brother in law installed the unit. As a favor to the tenant , we sent over a technician. The cellar was dark and the tech was glad to see a light at the back of the cellar. As he walked across the basement, he was stunned to see the burner laying on the floor , firing towards the ceiling. Not sure but it looks like the boiler door was damaged and someone attempted to cement the burner in place. Installed a new boiler Saturday and hopefully this one will be maintained.

I hope he didn't hurt his jaw when it hit the floor.0 -
good grief charlie brown
from the looks of that cast, it had been blowing out the front of that boiler for a looooooong time0 -
Sorry Dan!
No warranty on that one! The boiler has all of the signs of being dry-fired at some point in it's life. The remaining cast iron on the door has the appearance of almost being melted down. That boiler has been in since at least the late 60's if not the early 70's.

Frightening
The burner was out of the boiler & blazing away?
My wife laughs at me spending all my time on (or off?) the Wall - we've a joke about how I'm spending time here instead of using the Internet for its true purpose, pornography - these are TRULY a couple of dirty pictures!0 -
Burnham boilers
Glenn,
I agree-- it seems that the boiler door was almost melted from dry firing and then someone attempted to patch it in place.
We recently had an 11 year old boiler that was leaking ( technically out of warranty ) Burnham is supplying a new block @ a minmal charge ($90) Always a pleasure doing business with a company that stands behind its products 100% .0 -

When I looked at the picture
It looked like there was a four leaf clover on the ground infront of it. But then after looking at that devastated boiler, I thought how could it be.
