Can I use a Hoffman Model 508 Hygroscopic air vent in a cast iron baseboard steam unit? Most of what I read about it says it is for hot water heat. Also, if I can use it, do I leave it open a little (manual) or fully closed (auto). When I leave it closed, it appears that no air escapes and I do not get heat. It is a tight space and this is the only vent that I found that will fit.
