Balancing steam

Has anyone here balanced a steam system using the "Venting Capacity Chart ?" Have you found it was worth the money.

it helps,

i just used some of the info to balnce an apartment building that was being particularly stubborn..best vents are the gorton vents..they will not fail to give the desired results..(i've had bad heat-timer experiances, so even tho they vent faster, i'd stick with the gortons)..

I have found it to be helpful. I used it to balance a 4 story 8 family building in Brooklyn.

So say on a 3/4" tap you've installed 4 gorton # 2's and 1 gorton # 1's ?
Does it matter if the dry return is 1 1/4" or 2" ?

the dry return size doesn't matter..

the size of the tap matters..you can only get just so much air out of a certain size pipe at a certain pressure..thats why steamhead had a welder put multiple tappings on one of his jobs..hopefully he will see this and post a picture for you..
