If the emitters allow it, go with a condensing boiler for the highest efficiency. Presumably, this is a gas-fired hot water system?
I'd strongly urge a heat loss calculation before anything is done. Frequently, boilers are waaaay oversized for todays loads in homes that have had weatherization and/or insulation retrofit. Our heating needs went down 4x per square foot...

Lockinvar or dunkirk
I have two salesmen telling me that their boiler is the best. The Lockinvar is copper and the dunkirk is cast iron. I just want the best efficiency! Help!0 -
If you want the best efficiency
I wouldn't go with either. Look at Locknivar Knight (stainless steel) or the Dunkirk Quantum (aluminum).0
