what are the bennifits
what are the bennifits of primary secondary piping. I know that you need to do this method for alot of the high efficiency boilers but would there be anty bennifit to this piping method when using one cast iron boiler0 -
Bene' fit?
Yes, the trick is to keep the boiler at its optimum operating temperture while keeping the rest of the system at its optimum operating temperture. Often these two systems are married to each other and oppose each other as to the best of both worlds. If a boiler operates to cool, nasty things can occur in the boiler. If the rest of the system operates at maximun boiler temperture, the heated space can become uncomfortable at marginal heating times. In other words, efficiency and comfort are best addressed with primary secondary pumping0 -
Low Water Temp Protection
Just a note that primary-secondary piping alone will not protect a boiler from low water temperature. Primary-secondary is used to ensure that the system pumps and boiler pump can be independent of one another. This will help ensure that the boiler gets the water flow it needs, and will also ensure than system pumps do not interfere with the water flow through a boiler that is build with an integral pump.0
