well it's hard to count the sections with the jacket on...
So would you use Tekmar on a Buderus ? Do you not use the Vitotronic 200 or 300 controll ? interesting , personally I find Tekmar controlls alot more frustrating than the Viessmann stuff . With Tekmar it always seems like there's one more thing i want to do but can't without buying another control . We use alot of them but for add on radiant and stuff . The mixing block thingy is really slick we are putting 2 in this week. and I just sold a Tn4 to a customer with a screwed up commercial biulding , that should be cool.

    I wish we had taken

    before photos.

This is an apartment building that we have been talking to the owner about replacing. He had a Wiel-Mclain 66 series with an economite gas conversion burner. The return piping was a spider web of piping.

    No Longer.

Chris A. and "new guy" Kieth did the install. Kieth worked back at the shop and prepiped the manifolds while Chris cleared the room of old piping.

I had originally quoted two Buderus that would be staged but to cut cost we were able to get a good price on the Viessmann RN 280. My supplier had one left over since it is no longer made. Too Bad its a nice boiler. Its a two stage boiler so we still get the right amount of out put for the demand.

The electrician we have found is a perfect fit for our work.

We installed a Tekmar 262 for the staging (which happens in the boiler) also in anticipation of a future indirect. We have four and five zones so he have one pump for each manifold and then PDV for each manifold to balance the flow.

Don't look at the gas pipe :) We did'nt change that.

    Very nice

Good work Scott. A nice, neat looking system seems to run better than one that looks like c***.

At least that's what my father told me about the car when I was a kid. "A clean car drives better than a dirty one". The jury is still out on that one.

    Great

Great looking job, Scott. I like the controls, manifolds and the purge valves. I have never seen that model boiler before. Which current model replaced it? -DF

    Elect work

Really nice looking supply wiring, I really like that GFI being added to the mix. Nothing like a safe elect. source arround a perfectly grounded boiler. That big gutter will make any future work so easy.

Thats something we have asked for. We want a plug installed for service work, near the boiler.

    Great Job!

I hope the client likes orange! :-P

Lots of neat touches, like the document holder, orderly piping, an LWCO, comfortable-to-work-on electronics mounted out of the way of spraying water, a very nice manifold with all the drains and shutoffs a technician could dream of, etc.

This system is a joy to behold, not only because it has been piped well but because it also minimizes the number of pumps necessary to distribute the heat. I used Siggy's program to see how much pumping our home needs, and it's not one pump per circuit.

So, congratulations to all the good help that got this project to where its come.

    Scott.

I fully appreciate having a skilled electrician on board that takes as much pride in their work as you do. It really helps complete the job. Great looking work!

In the wiring gutter, is the electrician running low-voltage and sensor wiring along side of the line voltage?

    Regards,

    PR

    Paul,

All low voltage wiring going into the wiring guide has been changed to THHN,14 gauge before going into the channel. Most of the sensors for the Tekmar are brought in from the rear.

Our favorite electrician, Brett, has a stellar record. I fully trust him to wire anything we put in front of him. He ALSO knows who to call if any questions arise during the job.Brett is one of the few electricians that actually loves doing boiler wiring. He totally understands most of it, and always asks the right questions. He's done some huge jobs for us and hasn't missed 1 so far. My electrician....I think I'll keep him. Chris

    Kudos to the Milne Gang

The install looks great. The system wiring is always the ugly part of the job in my opinion, but your wiring looks like a million bucks. The guy who usually wires our systems I am ready to let go. A professional install ( as if you guys do anything else ).

    Scott,

The tekmar control (262) looks like a Rose between two Thorns :)

  • Nice work

And I really like how you found space to mount all the wiring controls where there was no space . That 262 looks familiar - we installed our 1st one today .

I also like the sturdiness of the black steel manifolds on the wall . Who makes those ball valve-drain combos ?

Scott , you have a great duo installing your boilers , and a 1st rate electrician .

    Ron, thanks

Those are Webstone purge setups. They come in sweat and female configurations.(they can also be had with a pump flange for Pumps on the return.BOOOO) I like em' too...one less place for a leak, they come with caps attached and they look nice to boot!
I'm trying to get my helper on this job to be my sidekick. He shows a definate aptitude and willingness to learn heating. He asks all the right questions and questions all the answers. I think he'll be a great student and counterpart willing to learn how to do it well and pretty. Chris

    nice

for those of you that don't know the boiler is an RN-245 two stage i beleive . Which has two complete gas trains in it .The Rn's where replaced by the Vitogas 100 series of boilers which is now becoming like the homely sister to the Vitodens but still a fine boiler.

    ???

not trying to be too nitpicky but why use a Tekmar controll on a Viessmann? why not just use a Viessmann controll ? Sure you can put a BMW motor in a Mercedes but why would you want to? One of the best things about using a Viessmann to me is the excellent plug and play controlls , elimnates all that pesky wiring.

    I think

The BMW has more flexabilty than the ridgid Viessmann control.

More to the point, we use Tekmar controls more often ( very broad product line ) ands it better for the crew to know one line well, than two or three alittle bit. Make sense ?

By the way Joel, thats a RN 280. ( And you thought you knew the line :) )

    Here ,here...

Yes, my thoughts also Chris. Brett is a very talented guy and has a Great Additude.

His work for us has allways been top notch and he is one of the very few electricians who knows what we are talking about.

More importantly, when he's done, you throw the switch and it works. First Time , Everytime !!
