Hot Water Zone Off a Steam Boiler. The boiler's pick-up factor will determine what you can do.
And if it's radiant, you'll need a heat exchanger as well. The water in a steam boiler is too dirty to pump into the smal tubes of a radiant system.

Adding radiant Heat to a Steam Boiler
We are finishing up phase 1 of a remodel of a 1900 New Englander. Currently the steam system is powered by a Well McLain WTSGO-3.
The house is 3 stories with 9 radiators. (nothing on the 3rd floor).
Phase 2 will be adding an addtion next spring.
My question is, we are planning a 1000 sq foot addition off the back of the house. Can this boiler be used is a system that is a combination of Steam and Radiant? Currently, the hot water for the house is direct from the boiler as well.
Thanks for any input or advice0 -
but it sounds like a possibilty?
Depending on the output of the boiler of course.
Thanks so much0
