booster pump

booster pump for my sprinkler system. the sprinklers are fed off the city water. about 2' from the water meter, i installed a tee. the branch line will feed into the pump. the pump is only activated when one of the sprinkler zones comes on. should i be concerned if i try to use my domestic water while the pump is running. i'm afraid all the water will be diverted to the pump and i won't get anything to the faucets. any thoughts?

You mean a lawn sprinkler
not a fire sprinkler system, right?
If so, you'd need to know how much flow the pump would create, and how much flow the water service can deliver. If the former is greater than the latter, you'd have problems.
If the system is set up so only one zone can be operated at a time, it wouldn't need as much total flow.
