Choosing a DIY Supplier for Radiant Heat

Slab edge insulation is the most important. Search/research for proper detailing at the driveway under the garage doors(s).

I'll never be one to discourage DIY, but there's MUCH more to tube-in-slab heating than just throwing some tube inside the slab... The five P's certainly apply: Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance!

Some "DIY suppliers" recommend less expensive materials/equipment that experience has proven truly inferior. NEVER EVER forget that EVERYTHING you use must work together as a balanced, functioning system!!!!

Choosing a DIY Supplier for Radiant Heat

Folks, I am looking at putting radiant floor heating in my attached garage. 23'x23' simple slab on grade, good insulation (or at least that's the plan as its not finished yet). I was looking at Radiantec's open system and after reading this board, I'm thinking not so much. What about Krell Distributors in Syracuse, NY? Anyone have experience with them? I have a neighbor who was a plumber and a friend that is a concrete contractor who will be helping me with the installation. I am sure they can do a great job if provided great products! Thanks for your help!

They are very good at what they do & can supply you with both a proper design as well as materials to do the job right the first time. Talk to Rob or Dave. I wouldn't trust the internet radiant suppliers.

    You're asking the wrong question

Let me back up, maybe you have already handled this part.

The first point of consideration in any radiant project be it 10 sq ft or 100,000 sq ft is system design.Finding the best deal on your tube and accessories won't make you feel any better when your garage won't heat. It will be just as worthless as if you paid top dollar for it. Design begins with the insulation under the floor and goes up from there.
