new home heating/cooling system
I AM ABOUT TO EMBARK ON MY 1ST HOME BUILDING PROJECT. I HAVE TALKED TO A CONTRACTOR AND HE HAS ADVISED ME THAT ELECTRIC FORCED AIR IS THE BEST WAY TO GO. I AM HESITANT TO USE THIS AS I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD THAT IT IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE. AFTER READING MANY OF THE ARTICLES ON "THE WALL" I AM COMPLETELY LOST AND CONFUSED AS TO WHICH WAY TO GO. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS ON WHAT WINDOWS I SHOULD USE, IS UNDERFLOOR HEATING THE BEST, ETC,ETC. THE HOUSE WILL BE BUILT IN SOUTHERN IDAHO AT AN ELEVATION OF ABOUT 3500 FT. NATURAL GAS IS NOT AVAILABLE WHERE THE HOUSE IS BUT PROPANE IS AN OPTION. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I DO THE WRONG THING!0 -

First - spend your money on the envelope - good windows/doors, insulate/insulate/insulate! For heating/cooling, geo source heat pump - especially if you need both heat/cool - must be sized properly. Do your research, talk to lots of contractors & get references.
Good luck!0
