political correctness???

I have been a wall lurker for about 6 years now. I have enjoyed learning from this site and on rare occasion, I have contributed. In the last few months I have witnessed posters on this site verbally attacking homeowners and people who show us the human side of every day business. It is very disconcerting to see that people can't even ask for prayers without someone getting themselves in a bunch over certain words or phrases. I know this is a heating forum and that it is here to provide a service. The deal is this; no matter what we do for a living, there is always human interaction. If we all believed the same thing or did our jobs exactly like the company down the road, life would be very boring. Have we made ourselves legends in our own minds?

We can be sensitive to others beliefs and cultures without having to be down right mean. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times.

    Just a thought,.....

In a nut shell this forum is for HVACR questions and opinions. Any potential political opinions are best left to other sights. Dan Holohan, the founder of this site is only trying to eliminate the touchy political views by taking it off the page. This avoids any conflict between costomer/ Contractor/ and all people. Help, is what Heating Help. Com is all about and political /personal views or attacks are never welcome. Sometimes we get our emotions into a topic, but like you said, We are only human. Just Ask the other pros here. If I am wrong or out of line they call me on it. My main goal is try to help others with what I know, or think I know. That's what make this site so great.

When you start mentioning something either heart felt or controversial, you tend to drift off the topic and I for one have many views and try to stick to what is pertenant to the discussion.

Couldn't have said it better myself ( though lord knows I've tried). I love the great repartee on this website and the knowledge thrown into the loop. I would not want to see it turn into a political/personal debate, but still, it is important to me to understand the views of the folks I work for; and with. I have been marginalized many times for being a tradesman, and respected and appreciated far more. Eat the meat, spit out the bones. It would be nice to ignore politics, but "What do we say about the man who does not participate in his own government. We do not say that he is a man who runs his own business. We say that he is a man who has no business here." Pericles Athens 450 BC He believed that "free and intelligemt obedience is rendered to a code of laws, where merit finds its way to the front, where military efficiency is found along with free development and strangles neither commerce or art." Pericles sought to educate the whole community to political wisdom by giving to all an active share in the government, and to train their aesthetic tastes by making accessible the best drama and music. It is most unfortunate that the Peloponesian war ruined his project by diverting the large supplies of money that were essential to it. (Did they win?) Apologies to Britannica but that's what they're there for.

    This site is...

Is a microcosim of society as a whole. The world is not a sanitized homogenized place and as long as people have opinions, people will disagree. I believe that some posts get yanked too fast when they heat up. If someone say something insane they should be held accountable...
