Not to sound non american but for your money check out Buderus g115 oil fired boiler it can be direct vented (balanced flue) or use a power venter .It has many features that other do not have like no combustion chamber to re place every couple of years lower flue temp and a total breeze to clean and keep clean as for power venters check out the tjerlund side shot a very good unit and has a pre and post purge with adjustable timing on it and ties into the pre /post purge honeywell cad cell relay nicely and also has a high temp limit to pervent the unit from over heating zero clearance to combustinable products and fits into a 16 on center wall cavatity .The big thing with power venters is to oil them once a year and to pull them apart and clean the fan blades if this is done yearly the unit should last you at least 5 years or so at least this has been my expoerence. Also on anothjer note have the burner gun piped 2 pipe with a tiger loop and a single pipe to the filter and loop it cuts down on oil being re circ to your tank and also cuts pump vacume and is the perferred way the europeans do there oil i have found i have far less oil line promblems this way also .Use a good oil burner i perfer the beckett nx,s or afg customs andthere is another beckett i believe it's a cf200 i 've have ran into i little hard to set up but in all cases once set up right burnes excellent

located in the north east, currently heat w/ oil and have a 16 yr.old Weil Mclean boiler that needs to be replaced. I have 3 zones and a powervent. boiler is in my garage, the powervent has been a problem for years and has been replaced every jan. for the last several yrs., Jan.'04 was the last when I upgraded it and so far so good - however I'm told the boiler is located too far away from the vent which is causing the problem. so I will be moving the boiler to be next to the powervent. the job quotes so far are relatively close in cost but all identify a different boiler mnfxr. to which I don't know much about - one cites a Burnham PV83WC-TBWN the other is a Peerless WB-03 WPC. I need it to be reliable and last. (I'll be keeping the existing powervent at least for now.)information on the pro's and con's of either would be appreciated.0 -
Ford vs Chevy
You are comparing a Ford vs a Chevy. I have installed both and would be comfortable with either in my home. If one of your quotes is from your service company I would stick with them if you have been happy with them.

new boiler
What's wrong with the old boiler, and how far away is it from the power venter? Something doesn't make sense. a 16 year old Weil shouldn't be in that bad a shape if it had been properly cared for. It obviously isn't the boiler's fault!
Weil has a new oil boiler out that is direct vent rated. If you have to replace the boiler and plan to move it anyway, look into the Weil Ultra Oil...I think a better option that the other two, but that's because I put in a lot of Weil's with virtually no problems.
