2" behind and 3" above. Be aware that this will cut 20% off the radiator's rating, though. Use reflective insulation behind the radiator. The second radiator's diverter tees can be as close as you'd like.

I have 5" deep radiators - how much clearance top back and sides when recessed in interior wall? Also, what type of backing between back of rediator and back of sheetrock wall? Also, in same wall but next room how close can I put the diverter tees after diverter tees for radiator in previous room?0
