I hope the woman in the photo is not the widow. I would hope to see someone standing with her, and perhaps a bit more privacy.

Hard to imagine we just ship our fallen heroes home in the cargo hold of a comercial jet, then unload them at a public place like that. Probably happens all the time, but it seems somewhat disrespectful.

Sat with my Uncle last evening on the banks of a trout stream. He was at Pearl & remembers that quite clearly. Unfortunately, he doesn't know me too well any more as Altzheimers is taking its toll. Caller me "feller" as in - "Hey Feller". He's slippng un-sweetly into that good-night.

Tonight, I'll sit with another WWII vet - Dad. He's getting mighty frail, but still with us.

Take the time to thank a vet - if you get an opportunity. They're dissappearing at a mighty fast pace.

Hat's off to all you vets!

Received these Pics an email with this text " While waiting on my flight from Kansas City International to Atlanta our plane was met with an honor guard on the tarmac. They were meeting the body of a fellow military man. I dont know who the fallen soldier was but obviously he was a war dead from the Iraqi or Afghanistan theater. I snapped some photos of the scene and of the waiting passengers viewing the ceremony below. I felt like calling the crowd to attention and Present Arms. Thought you might be interested."

and it stirs the emotions. Unfortunate that his life was cut short for (what I consider) a selfish war. If I were his Dad, I'd be sad and angry.

The WWII vets are dissappearing at a fast rate but we have plenty of others from our current conflicts. These young people also deserve our respect and will certainly fill the shoes of the Greatest Generation. Unfortunatly, they also have thier fallen comrades to remember. Young men and woman who never will see the peacfull life they so deserve.

I watched a History Channel show about d-day and one vet spoke of asking God to just get him home safely and he would live the rest of his life in peace in a small spot of the world. He also mentioned young men who, after d-day, never saw a micro wave or man walk on the moon or had a family.

    Some gave All.

May they rest in peace now.

I was very proud to watch my cubscout at the Memorial Day Services put his hand over his heart when the National Anthem was played.

Even the slightest hint of your disdain for the war is not appropriate on this forum. We can discuss further if you wish...but elsewhere.

Better, why don't we start a email dialog between us if you would like to air more of your grievances with the current administration.

Have you served Alan? Shed blood, sweat, or tears for your country? Don't dishonor this thread with innuendo and "cloak and dagger" leftist comments.

This will be my only response and post to this thread, but I will not have the memory and honor of those who have served be corrupted, not even mild comments by those who "Think we deserved 9-11".

    Regards,

    PR
