Counterflow system

Member Posts: 24
I posted a few months ago. I had a Burham boiler installed in the Fall and had some "knocking" noise. From the pictures I posted, I learned that I have a counterflow system. From Dan's books, I learned that this is not the best system. I'm changing vents myself--if I can--or ask the serviceman to change as Fall maint. Should I change to another type of piping from counterflow system? Would it be worth it? I've had a warm winter with some noise. I appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Thank you,

No need to repipe
just make sure everything is pitched, vented and insulated well. Also, an oversized boiler will cause banging in a counterflow system. It will try to push so much steam up the pipes that the condensate won't be able to drain.
