On Tempstar units, ICP stands for Inter-City Products. It is right on their label inside the furnace.

Lennox owns Armstrong, but they are not the same. American Standard and Trane are the same. Same quality and efficiencies. Trane offers a few more products than A/S. Find a piece of Trane literature. On the back it says a division os A/S. Carrier and Bryant-same as A/S and Trane situation. All of these (except Armstrong), are your top-of-the-line units.Armstrong is a very good grade A furnace. Heil and Tempstar are the same, made by Inter-City Products. they are also grade A units. Williams and Janitrol are the same. They also have a few other name brands out there. Rheem and Ruud-same as A/S group. Hope this helps. There are more, but these are the majority units.

    I.C.P. actually stands for

International Comfort Products. Along with Tempstar and Heil they also manuf. Carrier.

Its similar to G.M.C which has Chevy, Saturn and many others under it's name. Daimler Chrysler has Dodge Plymouth etc.

Theres not a whole lot of difference in product specs for forced air furnaces. imo.

    icp

ICP makes comfortmaker, tempstar, heil, and arcoaire. Carrier owns ICP but they are still seperate, each year they come closer to being the same. Carrier and bryant are the same. Goodman and Janitrol are the same, and goodman purchased Amana, but they are seperate yet coming closer.
