I think you are right it loks like Pro press0 -
Looks like
...............a coupling.
Perhaps used as a repair coupling used when they still had some flow through the line and couldn't solder.

It says Viega and they are the makers. I say 2, 3" couplings because the water wouldn't stop, too. Chris0
