What is this the real meaning of this statement?

I have seen this posted here numerous times. Anyone care to give a personal insight as to what significance this plays in our industry.

    I think this is different

for everyone, but my spin is to give any vocational school that asks for it a complete set of my books for their library at no charge!
  • What I take it to mean

specifically on The Wall is that I've been here for years asking for advice from the best of the best .

It's the right thing to share whatever meager skills I have in return .

A few think that we are giving away our trade secrets , our time and money spent in classrooms , and ultimately , our jobs ..... for free . Although I do understand the point of view , I just don't see it that way .

If you don't mind the question , what brings this up Darin ? Thanks .

    Darin,

    My thoughts on it....

Taking that new guy out on his first day, and teaching him something that sets a mind in motion. Not trying to mess with him and send him for a bucket O' steam, or a left handed pipe wrench/hammer.

Getting through YOUR thoughts on something that someone has been "taught", a thousand times, but not the way you'd like it done, and having the recipient respond, and now understand WHY.

Leaving a job, coming back, and finding that the person you left in charge did everything that you asked, and filled in the time you weren't there with what they knew would be the next task.

Pay it forward to me....means TEACHING the next generation our fine field.

It can go deeper. Giving back to the community as much as you've gotten from them. Helping your neighbor with no expectation of him ever helping you, but maybe being there for someone else who will need them at some point. That's what "Paying it Forward" is all about to me. Chris

    witnessed

I saw just that today. Spent a portion of my day today with Dan, TLMaryanne & Judy Garber as they were in York to visit the Oil Heat Cares project that won first place in NAOHSM's contest.

NAOHSM definately paid it forward and, together with their participating members and manufacturers, gave it back - in spades: promoted the industry; promoted hydronics; promoted giving selflessly to those in need, which makes those who gave feel very good & gave it back to all involved.

    What a great day!

    Retired and loving it.

  • Spending your day up holding the safety and comfort of my customers , spending the evenings teaching all about safety and comfort and of course utilizing Georges books in that classroom and lab enviroment .

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    for me

it's a God thing. It's not related jusy to this industry, but it is related to all. I give because he gave. All I have is because of his love. It's only right to pay that back by giving forward.

    ahhhhhh

life has developed such a frenetic pace that I truely cherish moments like that. Seems there's never a moment to spare, so forcing myself to slow down and breathe in the company of good friends becomes much more special.

Besides which, watching "judge" Judy reign in Ed Weinstock, News-8 reporter, was a real hoot. I missed channel 8's news-cast tonight, so I'm hoping it'll be on at 11.

The fact that we visited an Irish pub and didn't have a beer must mean something really profound - like we forgot to order cause we're getting to be really old farts! Then again, maybe we was on our good behavior?

Hey! Artie says hi. Saw him at the APR buying show in Lebanon later that same day - no harmonica or Irish sing-alongs :( Missed Boltzie by minutes according to Artie.
