you can work alot because their is NO INCOME TAX in N.H. People complain saying thier property tax is too high . But that's not true , the property tax up there isn't even double mine in Mass . I'd rather double my property tax and ditch my income tax.

    On the Books and Handycapped

A working Man on the books putting in bo-Koo overtime is like a slap in the face. I figure here in New York working over 12 hour your working for nothing. It was once said you will get back at the end of the year...... The return check has been getting smaller and smaller.... I feel handycapped........I should get that premo parking space....... Sad in NY

How is it in other States ??????

    Working Men

It is all of our faults. When we either don't vote or vote for so called working mens candidates who tax the worker and give it away nothing will change. Our politicians from both parties have to learn it is OUR money and not THEIR money that they tax and spend. One party says they are for the working man and one is accused of being for big business. Each candidate has to be put under the microscope. I am a working man and my IRA's and my 401K are invested in big business, I am directly affected either way.

on the flat tax proposed by some in congress ? I've heard numbers between 12 and 17 percent of gross earnings from every individual except the lower wages . Vastly simplifies the tax code as a side benefit . And I believe the flat tax proposed does away with corporate and capital gains taxes .

I feel your pain Ed . I do not like being rewarded for working more hours by having a higher tax burden .

    flat and value added tax

    Ron,
Don't bet on a simplified flat tax appearing any time soon. The people who benefit most from complicated tax laws, are the very same lawyers, accountants and corporate hacks that we are stuck with voting for. They will never make things easier or less complicated. The flat tax and added value tax works well in Europe and the rest of the world. But our polititions take the same position as uninformed contractors do about flat rating. " It won't work in my town."

    Think about it

The only way to make our gov. (and I left that in small case letters for good reason), more friendly to the working man is to get either you or me in office. Only one problem, unless you have a MAJOR bank account with bu-kuu bucks in it this will never-EVER happen PERIOD>

    i have a solution--

i'm also in New York--Westchester County and yes anything over 12 hours is going backwards--sure it raises your social security benefit dollar amount-- (but who knows where that will be )--anyway my solution is very simple work out with the owner to bank any overtime more than 10 hours a week -then have it paid on a weekly average of 40hrs + 10 O.T. until it is evened out ---so this year in June I would still be getting some O.T. in my pay, from the pevious winter --thats how i do it --i also have my oil deliveries paid for from this "bank" --as well as any tools , or purchases at supply houses --

    Power

Those who have power and money want to keep it . Doesn't matter what the party is . Kerry and Bush , both loaded , think either of them ballances their own check book or manages their own retirement ?
So you payed off your house and now you think you own it right?
Wrong ! Just stop paying your property taxes and i'll show you who really owns your house !
The good news is those with power also put in lots of rules in the tax code to protect their income . You just have to find them and use them to your advantage .

    True

And for another kick in the butt...... I pay more then double per month more then when I first bought my home.... And it's all taxes.

Don't get me wrong we should pay our FAIR amount of taxes but it's now over the top. Were are paying 50% of our income in taxes....
