Thanks for replying Cosmo. What did you have trouble with? I liked what I did try with it(such as adding fields like "Date Of Last Service") which are searchable, making it easy to keep up with my customers' annual maint. scheduling. I thought I was on to something good. What were the problems?

    Quickbooks

Anybody using QuickBooks Customer Manager along with QuickBooks?

I entered a bunch of customers' names/addresses/phone #'s in Customer Manager, and then tried to sync it with QuickBooks. The names go into the Customers:Jobs in QuickBooks, but not any address/phone info.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

    Contact Intuit and ask them.

I can do that, Scott. I just thought someone might have had a similar experience.

    I gave up

I bought Customer Manager almost six months ago, and never got it to work properly. I even called tech and still could not get it to work. I am pretty savvy w/ computers, but I just gave up and put it on the back burner. In my opinion, when buying an upgrade for a program it should just work without so much fuss. Probably it is just a simple fix if I call tech support again, but like I said before I have'nt gotten around to it yet........

It wasn't working with outlook, data was all messed up in transfer. I am going to try it again tonight and see what else the problems were. Thanks for bringing this up I forgot about it.

I was using the Outlook calendar. You're supposed to be able to import appointments into Customer Manager, but it seemed to only want to import contacts, not appointments. One thing I noticed when I was trying all of it, there was a box that came up where you were supposed to define the names of fields in QBCM to correspond to fields in Outlook or QB that were named differently. I saw it, lost it, and couldn't find it again.

    sounds familiar

I think you just hit the problem I was also having.. I can remember now that when this was happening I had a sudden ADD attack and quickly went outside to organize my truck.....

Sometimes I wish that I could go back to simpler times when I was 12 and I would have to go out to my old man's van to organize it every night after I finished my homework. I always looked forward to it because I got a chance to play with all those toys...I mean tools.

I use a local gal who

knows all anyone could ever know about QB and loves to share her knowledge (for a fee of course) with anyone. I learned more about QB's in an hour with her than years of being on hold with Intuit "experts." She's in Jersey and makes a very nice living full time simply being a QB guru. And, guru she is indeed. She just hired a gal to help and that one's damn near as good as she is.

If you call (732) 974-7707 you'll get a tape. Leave a brief outline of what you need and a phone #. Once you establish a relationship, she'll make your QB's sing and dance!

    Thanks Ken,

That's probably the way for us to go. I actually have a customer of mine who does the same kind of thing, but I don't know how good she is at it.

I also wanted to thank you again for the items list, etc. that you sent me a while back.

    But Ken,----4:41am???

    Got in touch w/ Intuit

I had problems importing Outlook into the customer manager, the tech support guy is sending Customer Manager Version 2 at no cost. he says that the new version lets Outlook and Quickbooks get along better. Also for the problem with transferring names but nothing else, he said that the field titles between Outlook and Customer manager are different, "Home/Business" on outlook compared to "Main/Bill to/Ship to" on Customer Manager. He said that I should call when I recieve the new software cd and he will walk me through it.

    Not too bad I think

Hey Ken, could you pass along your items list I would like to compare it to the one my accountant has me using

    Thanks Cosmo

I have Customer Manager 2. I'm sure you and the tech are right about the field titles. I think that's the same problem between QuickBooks and QBCM. I'm going to try to find where to align them later. If not---well I just had one of tommorow's jobs postponed, so that's probably a good time to try Intuit.
