Rev II burnham boiler
The flue gasses are put through the stainless container with stainless corrugated tubing carrying return water from the system wrapped inside. The colder the return water, the more temperature that will be extracted from the flue gasses before they leave for the outdoors. Hope this helps.

true condensing boiler
Installing the first Rev II burnham boiler and looking at how the condensing is done with a bypass tank on the side , the set up doesnt seem right can anyone explain how there could be extra energy saving from this design0 -
Easily.
The water extracts heat from the exhaust passing by it( as long as it's cooler). Chris0 -

the boiler keeps its return water temp at 160 returnig to the cast iron section , I will monitor the water temp into and out of the condensiing section and see if the DT is increased enough to give us heat recovery or if the water must remove heat from the boiler supply to increase the boiler retun after start up and during start up as well0 -
