Job descrp - Exterior out-building pool-side; wants a 1/2-bath installed. Pull up plywood flooring, hand dig to 3' deep, exterior ditch out 3', 90 turn & run 16', 90 turn and go 12' to home - excavation, backfill with crushed stone, tamp, rake & seed + patch block wall at penetration. Crawl space 24' long to run the drainage, water and 12/2 w/G UF cable (laid in ditch for homeowner so he can do electric work). Get permit & inspection. Re-install plywood flooring, extend vent thru roof, install plumbing fixtures (WC & sink - provided by owner) & get final inspection.

Three guesses as to the low bids he received. (Think of the Limbo lyrics!)

Hint: materials alone (less fixtures) retail for $892.00, which included 300' of UF cable (two circuits at 150' each). Dirt is hard-packed clay/shale & hoe + operator and finished ditch-work were $820.00 (direct sub-contractor costs).
