    a simple to use, easy to read, crowd pleasing

    selection of hydronic symbols and drawing tools. HydroniCAD should be available in the next few weeks. A stand alone program with drag and paste components. This will be a great design, presentation, documentation, and even a troubleshooting tool.

    I can see how this could work better than a digital camera to record and pass along the details of a problematic system. Build a system via your laptop at the job, and with the press of a button, or two, send it via cyberspace for all to see. Use the drawing and get advice, or revised drawings, from other HydroniCAD users to revamp or add on to current system piping.

    Draw up your systems after completion and laminate a copy to hang with the boiler docs. A great "map" for the next tech, on the job, to follow and understand.

    Use it as a sales tool with you customers presentation meeting.

    Replace your Tetris game and play HydroniCAD during slow times :)

    Price not yet set, but it should be about what a hydronic pro charges for a couple hours labor :) I can forsee a one or two job payback on a tool like this.

    Next we need one of those 3D copy machines that would squeeze out an actual model of a boiler and piping system, from the CAD drawing, for those true "touch and feel" types :)

    3D plotters exist...

    ... though the price of each model is equivalent to a couple hours of your time...

    It's pretty amazing how much these tools can simplify our lives and help you visualize what needs to go where when you go to install in the field... plus, it makes it that much harder to forget a particular part in the shop that day, detailed drawings are like a giant invoice...

    Sign me up. Been wanting this for years.

    Tried to make stuff in AutoCad, but everything takes forever to do in that.

    I always ended up drawing stuff by hand, and that is anything but professional. But sometimes I would hang it on the fridge and I'd get a cookie...

    Cookie = Good!

    Cookie, Cookie, Cookie... :-)

    I've always liked Visio better for drawings that didn't require very high accuracy. AutoCAD undoubtedly has matured since I used it last (LT in '98) but Viso makes making complex drawings of systems quite easy. For example, I did 3' bx 6' drawings of complex industrial processes with hundreds of steps for work way back when and visio made it all pretty simple.

    Another bonus of that work was drawing up a electrical plan for the boat that includes every junction box, engine component, etc. hooked up to the electrical system. Makes trouble-shooting much easier.

    Plug and Play

    Hydrono-bots can be set up to build the entire boiler room from CAD images on the laptop during lunch break. When I'm done with this I plan to market it right here.
