I have lived in Colorado my whole life and never visited this excellent site. This is a must see for anyone. But be sure to stay a couple of days because one day is not enough to see everything. The things we can do if we all work together.

    WOW

I've lived in Illinois my whole life and am not well traveled but Mesa Verde is on my short list. I can't believe you've never been! Can you believe those people deserted because of a drought? I can. It lasted a long time. Can you say global warming? TG

    Mesa Verde National Monument

This year is Mesa Verdes 100th birthday since opening in 1906. Just a six hour trip from Colorado Springs,CO. If you take the Million Dollar Highway it would take longer but the view is spectacular. The Great Sand Dunes National Monument is along the way in Alamosa, CO and when you Make it to Mesa Verde its only another 20-30 minute ride to the Four Corners Monument. There is alot to see in Colorado that I have missed out on but I plan on starting to see everything I can statewide.

    As the bumper sticker says....

    :)

Thanks for sharing these! I had no idea of the scale until you put people in the foreground. The place looks tiny to me, but beautiful in a way that a photo cannot convey..

Fabulous photos - I'm wondering if it’s possible for industry today to think about cooling in the same terms as these ancestors…they didn’t pontificate about its viability – they just new it was cooler to set up an entire residential development where it was – well – trendy cool.

    More pics .....

These are the Cliff Palace from across the valley. These really give you a great idea of how amazing Mesa Verde is. Can you imagine stumbling across this in 1888 ? If you look in the top left of pic # 63 you can see the next group of tourist waiting for their turn. There was people from all across the world there.
