he'll still be in this country. If you let him stay here, he'll:
* Continue contributing to the oil heat industry through selfless giving.
* Continue giving away maga-bucks he wins in numerous 50/50 drawings, which keeps those beer-funds out of our grubby paws.
* Continue promoting hydronics at the drop of anyone's hat.
* Continue being a nice guy with a quick smile that brightens every room others darken.
* Continue promoting the silly notion that testing combustion by-products is the best method for techs.
* Continue educating everyone - even if we don't want no more soup! Please sir, may I have another?
* Continue being your best friend in the industry.
Whoa there! Wait a minute..... If Alan goes to ISH, he'll see and learn about many things that will help the PHVACR industries. If he sees it and he learns it, he'll feel a need to deliver the message to everyone and help improve our lives. On second thought, keep Alan home if you don't want to see this industry surge forward.
Ten bucks? That's a dirt-cheap investment in our future, if you were to ask me.

Well said, Dave.
I know of no other man who does so much for others. It's good go be able to recognize him in this way. I hope a lot of people will step up with the ten bucks. It's not a lot, but I know that it makes Alan feel great to see how much we think of him and all that he does. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -
Dan
has this been posted on Oil tech talk ??
After all Alan has done for the oil industry, it would be nice ( hint-hint) if a manufacturer in the industry would step up.

Yes, I posted it there,
but so far it's been quiet. It gets like that sometimes when you're passing the basket. ;-)Retired and loving it.0 -

on vacation this week and next!!0 -
An early memory
of Alan's generousity was at a NAOHSM convention where he won the 50/50 raffle. At that point in his life, he could have used the money. Instead of taking the winnings, Alan - without a moments hesitation or second thought - gave 100% back to the organization. Probably for a charity or Oil Heat Cares (I can't remember which). I was surprised by his selfless act and spoke with him about it later. No big deal, according to him. Very big deal in my mind that someone in need would give away all the money.
As I came to realize over many years, that's not an isolated incident. Alan has a well-established pattern of going way out of his way to help others - often at his own expense.

I've watched him do that several times,
and as you say, at times when he can least afford it. The guy never looks for credit or even to be thanked. He's got the biggest heart I've ever seen.
Ten bucks is all I'm asking. It's not so much the money; it's showing that you care. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -
Dave, I was worried when I saw sending him away I thought oh no! 5 yrs 15? 20? What the heck did I do now??? LOL
On a more serious note thank you so much for your kind words and most importantly yours and Loiss friendship.

friendship
The easy part is the friendship. That hard part is trying to follow in your footsteps. You've set the bar high pal. Enjoy ISH. Wish I could be there too, but as it turned out, a tropical adventure awaits us on those dates.
