My boiler was moved a few feet a couple of years ago to create some extra space in basement. Boiler was re piped with copper instead of black pipe. Two steam outlets, both 2" as required by boiler manual. The system I have works pretty good (very quiet, but a little slow) but I have some concerns. The two steam outlets do not join into one header as you normally see. Instead, one outlet(the front one) comes up vertically, then turns at 90 degrees, horizontal for about 18"(measures 24" from water level in glass gauge to bottom of horizontal section), vertical again for 18" and then turns at 90 degrees into a 3" main line. The other outlet is totally independant of the first in that it comes up vertically, also turns at 90 degrees( height is also 24" above water level), turns vertically and then splits into two main lines, one @ 1 1/2" and one @ 1 1/4". These two outlets are totally independant of each other. Also, I know this sounds crazy, but neither outlet has an equalizer coming off it. The system doesn't seem to be drawing up a lot of water because the boiler is large with a big steam chest. What is going on with this pipework? Is it totally off the wall and if so what improvements can I make?0 -
I will try but it will be tomorrow evening before I can do that. Does it sound weird to you?0 -
Not that it hasn't happened before0 -

This is the photos of the piping you requested. Looks pretty bad but works quite well, quiet as a church mouse. I stripped off the insulation to show the pipe work. My concern is the lack of equalizers. I intend to rip out this copper and re pipe in black pipe once I get the correct configuration. Boiler house is very confined, hence the poor quality of photos. What are your thoughts?0 -

These are some photos that you requested. Boiler house is very confined so I am sorry about the quality but I hope by reading the first text I posted and by viewing these photos you will be able to see what is going on. I know it looks horrendous but when I know the correct configuration I will rip out this coper and re pipe with black pipe. Diseregard lack of insulation as I removed it so you might see more clearly what is going on. I am concerned with lack of equalizers but system does work quite well and is super quiet in the living areas. Not a sound at any time. A little slow to initially make steam, I think because it is drawing up water and has no equalizers to drain it away. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you0 -
I've just viewed what I posted. Something very wrong. I will try again.0 -

Bernard , can you uncheck the box
that shows your 1st picture ? The large size of the pic makes reading the posts very difficult . Thanks .0 -
Sorry Mr. Smith.
Your boiler was piped all wrong, by a slob no less.
Bet the system will work better and cheaper with a header. Your boiler will also last longer.
This guy should not have been paid.0 -
I'm a little unsure of how to post these pictures. What do you mean by unclick the box?0 -
You have to go to
the post that your pictures are in , then click Edit . Where the file names for your pictures are , theres a box to the left with a check . Click on that to uncheck it , then click ok . The pic will still be there , you just have to click on it to see it .0 -
