MAVES One Pipe Steam Vent

Found this M.A.V.E.S. one pipe steam vent on the Internet.

Spoke to the man who makes and sells them and who says they come from the USA. He says his vent has no float, has a bimatallic strip and is set to close at a much lower temperature than most others, saving massive amounts of energy. After giving the third degree he said he'd send me a sample, but that didn't happen.
Sounds like he makes them in a garage in North Carolina.
Anyone know anything about these?

???
I'm confused... if it closes sooner, doesn't that potentially create an issue... Won't it close before all the air is out? e.g. - the point of it closing at 212 is that you KNOW you have steam... Weird.0 -
I believe...
... most steam vents actually close at about 180.
Maves Guy tells me that "you don't need the whole radiator hot," so the thing closes early.
Less heat, less fuel, I suppose. Don't really think it will amount to much of anything.
Just can't figure what would make someone go out and manufacture these. My wholesaler can't get a sample from MAVES MAN either.

Ed-
Maybe HE doesn't need the whole radiator hot, but it sure seems as if MY customers do-lol. Wonder what the max pressure/drop away pressures are.0 -
Strange to me.
Whith the few good products out there at fair prices, why would someone start up a business like this, then not answer serious questions or return calls?0
