Taco RMB Question

We do not want to heat the space, just keep the water moving in the tubing for "freeze protection".

There is a hydro-air system in the room as well as A zone of Quick-Track on the wall about 30 inches high, plus the gypsum floor is LOADED with tubing.

Right now, the weather is fairly warm, and the radiant temporary manifolds are all hooked together and they are running gravity/ghost as other "micro-zones" run.

Frankly, the system runs really well (even when it was cold out)without any forced flow, but this customer must have an RMB for the floor and another one for the wall zone.

We ran the quick track wall by itself and it felt AMAZING. It kept the room very comfortable and stopped the "cold curtain" feeling when standing in front of the windows.

    Question about Taco RMB

Is there a way to run the system side constantly?

I have a customer who is worried about freeze protection (glycol is NOT an option)in an area that MAY see low temps.

Can the OAT sensor be setup to run the system side constanly if the temp drops below 38 degrees?

i would think that lowering the indoor temp on a t stat to 38

is asking a bit much from an injection system unless it was designed around that temp. otherwise it would run to failure(until it froze) i'd think.youd have ample time to resart the boiler with the RMB with the thermal mass redistributing the distributed btu;s. i havent had a system freeze nor have i used one for a snow melt.

Some of the floor tubing MAY be in an area that could possibly, MAYBE get cold enough to freeze.
This is a case of customer overkill, I know.
    But:
Is it possible to run the system pump of a Taco RMB for constant circulation?
  • Freeze-up should be prevented automatically

by the controller if it senses the return water to be below a certian set tempature. You could also trick the control by resetting the curve.

    System pump can run continuously

Yes, the system pump can run continuously. In the back of the control where you bring in the hot/neutral terminal run a jumper over to the pum terminal to hot wire the system pump. This will have the system pump run continuously, while having the thermostat control the RMB and fire the boiler based on a call for heat.

    How about...............

using a Tekmar 150 with an outdoor sensor, setting it to 32° and run it in series with the thermostat?

    hb

There was an error rendering this rich post.

soooo How do you think an rmb will work with a vitodens? I'm designing one now and on paper it seems good. Concrete and an upper floor with Quik trac. Using the rmb to control the crete.

Also the boiler is 100 ft away from the north wings mechs so should be no need for communication.
