flaky wirsbo control module

with two ganged wirsbo control modules(a 4 and a 3) managing 6 telestats and a circulator pump, i've discovered that when any of the 6 thermostats call for heat, the 6 associated telestats open when necessary, but the circulator pump fails to turn on. by jumping the contacts on the relay, i can force the circulator pump to come on: it simply fails to respond to the wirsbo control modules.
can a control module fail in this way? seems funny that both modules should fail simultaneously because either one should kick the pump on.
thanks.

I'm going to ask John Barba at Wirsbo what he thinks. Hang on--it could take a couple days for me to reach him.0 -
John says that terminals ES and ES coming out of the module are just a switch--no power. Do you have a power supply for the circuit made up of the switch ES/ES and the circulator pump?0
