Wilo Pumps? Any feedback?

Just received info from our rep, and it looks as if they have a circulator comparable to the 15-58 currently, but no equivalent for the 26-64 or 26-99. I believe they are waiting for UL listing for the delta-p model.

    Hi Mad Dog,

Would an external speed control for a single speed pump be a sellable/usable product?

Wilo is a German based company.

    Made in USA

Just to clarify - we produce all small circulators for North America at our Fresno, CA manufacturing plant- staffed by good 'ol Americans.

Our philosophy is to locate manufacturing as close to a market as is possible. As a matter of fact,Fresno manufactures all 4" submersable pump components for the entire global needs for Grundfos!

    Hope this helps.

If i understand correctly Wilo makes a circulator with an ECM or ICM motor that varies flow to maintain constant pressure. If this is available in the US, it would be fantastic.

I love Grindfos circs. The only thing they do not work well on, is pumping steam condensate through indirect water heaters. Only Tacos work for this task.

We were given two Wilo 3 speed circ that a vendor obtained from a salesman. We were asked to use it and report back on its performance. One went to pump condensate as mentioned above. It failed in a week. Way earlier than any Grundfos.
The other is still running for five months on a short baseboard loop on a multizone Buderus install.

I like things to look symmetrical, so the three speed Super Brutes work for me.

I do NOT like the boxes that the Wilos come in. They look like cheap Chinese cardboard, and thet, to me, cheapens the whole product.

The fact that Grundfos circs are made in CA is a very good thing. I try to buy American whenever possible.

    WILO USA...

is a new entry into the US circulator market, however, we have been building circs and pumps since 1924 and we are the largest privately held pump company in the world. To answer your question we have been in the market since late 2004. Should you have any other questions you can post on the Wall or feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your interest in WILO.

    Pumps

Lately I have been rethinking my pump manufactorur of choice.

    As a rule I usually would select B&G #1 and Taco #2.

Over the last year I get the feeling that B&G could care a less. You order the pumps, ask the lead time and when they are supposed to arrive it's never on time. Vender calls the factory and they give no feed back, nothing. What is that? Do they WANT my business or do they take it for granted?

I would like to keep it American but hey I have a job to get done and either they help me or they don't.

Not to mention the fact that Grundfos seems to be kicking their butts with their product line.

I just canceled my order for (2) PL130 pumps and went with Grundfos because of this abuse. Lets see if anybody notices?

    Selection

We would seriously consider using Wilo pumps (in fact we recently did), but there is no equivalent for the Grundfos UP26-64 or UP26-99. Are there plans to introduce these sizes in the US? The differential pressure controlled circulator would probably be what would push us to switch. When can we expect this to be avalable? Thank you for any information.

    Yet to find anything............

that compares to the 15-58, so why look anywhere else? I have countless 15-58s in the field without a single failure. No brainer.

    Grundfos has great support

Our rep. came out here to fix the screeching issues we were experiencing, recommended increasing the system pressure and bleeding the circuits, and we've had a silent pump panel since. I am very happy with their product and less concerned with where it is made, etc. than knowing that the pump panel works as intended.
