Equalizer or not?

Critical service boilers in lead lag arrangement. Normally open steam stops, and parallel dropped header arrangement. Currently having some trouble with the LWCO. Feed water pump set up has three pumps dedicated one to each boiler and a stand-by in emergency. Hav'nt had any problems with off cycle HWCO's of lag boiler and usually shift them every four months or so.

Was wondering, if it is exceptable to pipe an equalizer in this arrangement? The purpose would be to prvide an extra water source for the online boiler and to allow the lag boilers feed pump to help the online boiler. This of course is not the real fix but i need some time to prove that the feed pumps (replacements of original) are properly sized. It is a very intermitant failure but the boiler being low pressure is usually very cold, running in demand limit when it is found to be not producing steam.
