A: Buy the book(s) they are one of the best sources of steam heat info available today. Anywhere!
B: You have a venting problem causing all the water in the boiler to belch up into the steam lines
C: The pressuretrol shouldn't have to be nearly that high.
D: You may also have some piping problems that need to be corrected. Both near the boiler and out in the system.
E: You would be wise to avail yourself of the services of one of the steam specialists that hang out on this site. Having one of them lay an eye on your system could save you hundreds of $$ each month in energy costs from the sounds of it.

Steam Heating System
Hi, We need help with a couple of things.
1. Although the boiler has been cleaned and the automatic feed has been disassembled, cleaned (the float had a tremendous amount of rust and sludge on it) and put back into place. The problem however, is that the water level remains higher than the line on the water feed. Why would this happen? When the boiler kicks on the automatic feed also goes on.
2. After steam has bleed out of the radiator. Why would there be water coming out of one of the radiator bleeders (the bleeder was changed). This radiator is above the boiler.
3. What should be the steam pressure be on a boiler? The boiler is set up for 15 units. There are approximately 38 radiators in the building. When the boiler kicks on the gauge works up to 10 psi. Is this too high?
4. If I purchase your book, Will I be able to find out all these answers??
THANKS for all your help.0 -
