Normal Steam Water Loss

Gerry,

Finally someone took Dan up on his instance that a feeder is made with a water meter connected to it. I'll be that few folks spend the money for it.

I personally like mechanical stuff and still hook up a surplus water meter to an M&M 47. But I just can't resist all the cast iron...

    What's normal.

I have a steam boiler in two family house; about 130MBTU. It would go off on low water about once a month in the heating season if I did not add water. I'm using Gorton vents, all in good condition and don't see any leaks.

Based on your experience, would this be in the normal range?

Yea, just put a meter on my 47-2. Great idea, although it could make me paranoid about the makeup water. I keep the feeder portion shut down; it will be there for vacations, trips, etc.
