Smart Valves
Hi Bill.I didn't know your last name. I just remember seeing questions for "Bill from Honeywell" in the past.
Is there any way I can order plugs and sockets directly from Honeywell? I'm making testers for the SV9570, SV9610 and SV9501 families. It's kind of a pain waiting to get a failed unit and strip the parts. Any info on availability would be greatly appreciated. Thanks0 -
Rich, I happen to know Bill spends a lot of time on the road. so in the event he does get a chance to see this post soon, Here's his contact info.

SmartValve test equipment
for testing voltages the test harness is part number #396085 approx $15.00
The Flame Measuring Kit is Part # 395466 approx $25.00.
If you have trouble getting these e-mail me and I will give you several locations for ordering them.
The SmartValve Igniter Assembly part number Q3400A-1008 can also be used for testing.0 -
396085
This harness does not work on the 120v water heater modules with 6 pins. The flame sense tester is also not for 120v HSI units. Mine will instantly tell me if I have: power, good ground, power to vent motor, power to HSI and whether the switches are open or closed. It's nice to know when you have an intermittent problem. A blinking light will tell you in an instant that there is a problem. This would likely be missed while going from stripped wire to stripped wire being careful not to short the 120volts to ground...If there was a tester for 120volts from Honeywell like the 24volt model 396085. The 24volt version I have will instantly show: power, call for heat(press.switch closed) and EFT output of the smartvalve to the control board(flame sensed, main burner on). Same thing, I don't need to go from one bare wire to the next to monitor the sequence of operation...kinda like "traveling in the dark without a light". It's so much faster and safer with the light. For a number of reasons a lot of guys don't like working on the smart valves. This gives our guys confidence and we get the jobs that others have dropped the ball on. Honeywell makes a lot of great stuff. I think they could have done better on the smartvalve testers.0 -
to Steve Scott
Thanks for the e-mail. Originally, it was just to make my life easier and get more work (customer referrals). Then it was to make them for the guys at our shop. Now, there are more people wanting one of each. So the answer is yes, I'm trying to get the plugs and sockets so I can start selling these. Right now, I'm trying to perfect a tester for the Munchkin that will log; sequence of operation, supply / return temps. and consumption based on RPM of the combustion blower. What about you, any other testers on your wish list?

Have you checked places that sell Molex connecters?
Does yours have a way to check the flame sense?

I've checked the local electronic suppliers with no luck. They have some that are close, just not close enough. Yes, mine does check flame signal. Check the pic in my first post. The unit on the left checks power to the HSI and has jacks for testing uA signal. The 24volt version looks the same. The first unit I made had everything in one box. Two smaller boxes seem to be easier when working in close quarters.0
