Non barrier tube?

we just completed a redo of a non barrier tube system. Amazingly after 15 years the origiinal cast boiler had not rotted through but was well on it's way , it was also not WR . we found several loops actually plugged solid with boiler guts , not too efficent .

We put in a Vitola protected by a flat plate , protected by a Y strainer yada, yada, yada, .

Anyhow that crappy tube is fairly rare here . Out in the west i know you guys deal with this more . Is there any kind of chemical we can add to slow the difusion?? We are completly non ferous on the tube side, but still would be nice to cut down if we can.

makes a good product for that. Actually all you really need is an O2 scavanger. Probably a bit cheaper. Most of the outdoor wood furnace manufactures sell a simple 1 component O2 scavanger. Any nearby chemical shop could provide it also.

Even non ferrous components can be compromised by aggressive water. Brass can de-zincify and pin hole. It's often passed over as sand hole problems.

    At least check the ph.
