high/low connection to radiator
I'm working with a simple gravity fed system (2 pipe)... the hot water gets connected on the low side, but can the return be on the high side? Or... in all the pictures I see the radiators have 2 "low side" connections. Will this make a difference?
Also... anybody have one of those antique expansion tanks that go in the attic for sale?
Thanks,

If you connect high-low on the same side of the rad
the hot water must enter at the top. If you pipe it so the hot water enters at the bottom, and use forced circulation, the water will rise thru the first couple of sections leaving the rest of the rad noticeably cooler. If the circulation is by gravity, the rad might not heat at all.
A pumped flow rate that's too high will do the same thing, even if the hot water enters at the top. It takes the shortest distance between the two points.
Ask me how I know all this.......
