Are you sure, in your foggy state, that the nurse didn't say, "Breath deep, the gathering gloom...?"

I'm Baaaacccccckkk....
Well at least home and not in the hospital. The knee sugurey went well, lots of post op. issuies and intermittant problems.
Started out by having a spinal done for the operation, which was to take about and hour and half. Well when I woke up it was about three hours later. "Hey that took a little longer huh ?" . Well apparently when the doctor started to cut I said " Hey I can feel that .. " . The spinal did'nt take and I had to be put under !!.
Everything went well with the partial knee install and the next day ... I felt great ( read ; pain killers ). So Tuesday afternoon I said I'm going home. MY wife said stay alittle longer, but NO. I felt great. Well about ten that night I told Betsy " Take me back to the Hospital ". I have NEVER felt pain like that in my life. The pain killers wore off and I was Near tears. In the Hospital they tell you to grade your pain from one to ten. All I could think of was Spinal Tapp " This one goes to Eleven ".
So after about two more days they thought I had an infection since the swelling was'nt goin down and I had a slight fever. I told the Doctor " Its just like my work. Sometimes you do everything right and it still dosn't work ". So Saturday I went under again ( out cold ) and they found a blood clot, a Hemotoma. So that went well and the Doctor was happy. As I lay in the recovery room, drifting back to the real world, the Nurse kept telling me to breath deep and gets lots of oxygen. I told her that when I did that I got a little pain on the side of my chest. All of a sudden I've got the nitro under my tounge and I am hooked up to the EKG machine ( the machine that goes PING ..Monty Python ) and I am in the Cardiac Care Wing. Well that was all fine and no problems, I just had alittle cramp but boy they take no chances.
So here's the funny part. My mothers house was flooding as it always does but this time it was huge. She's calling me in the hospital crying and asking what to do ( I have two other brothers ). I said MOM I'm in the hospital in the CCU, give me a break. So when the Heart Dr. comes to see me and tell me everything is O.K., he says " Any other problems". I laughed and said no if I could just get my mother to stop bothering me I'll be fine. Two Hours later a Social Case Worker shows up to tell me the Doctor had reported I had Stress in my Life. I could't stop laughing hard enough to tell her everthing was fine.
So I'm back at home and ready to started getting back to work. My guys have done a Great Job especially during all the rain we had. My office manager Cheryl came in on Sunday for four hours to take care of flooding issiues. She's the best.
Also a big shout out to the Nurses at Bevery Hospital .. they are wonderfull, caring people. After being in the hospital and seeing people who are ill and passing on, MY Life Is Blessed. If you've got your health you've got it all.

Glad to see you back.....
did the knee bother you for a long time? Was it an old injury? Hey, people go in for gall bladder surgery and don't get out alive. That's funny with mom and the flood. Mad Dog

Thanks Guys
Ya Matt, the knee has been bothering me for quite a while. I hurt it in High School and had an operation about a year after. It has progressivly gotten worse to the point where I was standing on one legg and did'nt even realise it.
Recovery is going great and I actually walked around the house with No Crutches today.
Dan, I swear the doctor had one of those How Too Vidios from the Big Box Store .
The Boys came in every day for my hug recovery.

Was looking for you!
At NAOHSM, thinking that if all had gone well you might be hobbling around the trade show.
So, that nurse whose picture I sent you worked out just fine, eh?
Glad to hear you're coming along. Heard lots of horror stories from folks who were at NAOHSM. More than a few had to leave to go home and tend to flooded basements.
Speedy recovery pal.

Me and Mark apologize for all the extra complications you had. How were we to know that the voodoo doll Chris gave us actually worked? I never realized Mark owned so many pins, chicken legs, and candles!!
Glad you are back home, Darin0 -

Took so long for you to respond to all the posts last week I thought maybe you upped and died. Strange mechanical system that we have, not something you can work on yourself after a few one day seminars. Glad everything turned out o.k., maybe you can hook up with the same rehab specialist that Carson Palmer is using, supposedly he will be back in time for the start of the NFL season. Seriously, glad to see it came out o.k., and you are excused from any wind sprints until the July pre-season workouts!0 -
My buddy Scott
I'm really glad you're on the mend . The way you described the pain made me wince . so , how long till your'e dancin' like a Rockette ?0 -
