ROCKS!, and I say again,, ROCKS!

For the first time, we can install a totally integrated airhead system. Just 4 wires from the condenser and the stat and everything talks to everything else. Humidifiers, air cleaners, two stage A/C, the whole sheeebang. Nice product!

I have inherited an Airquest furnace problem that I need to resolve. I am involved with an 80% efficient AirQuest H8MPN-100 which is installed in an unlined masonary chimney. I want to know if I can sidewall vent it with stainless steel material however I cannot find a single phone # for this Company. Does anyone have a technical support number for this manufactuer???????????

I'm not to familiar w/ the furnace that you have, but i do know the ones we install CANNOT be side wall vented unless you use a field installed power venter w/ barometric damper.

Thats why we just put in 92% units.

    No number

I don't know who makes it. Did you try Google or Yahoo search?

AFA venting it sidewall.....no can do except as described above. The furnace needs to be vented into properly sized B-vent chimney or else you need to drop a liner into your masonry flue and vent it that way. 80% furnaces are pretty much obsolete except for a few limited applications. Do yourself a favor and have a good installer put in a decent 90+ for you. Variable speed, two stage is all we recommend now. They provide much better comfort and a little more economy of operation than a standard 90%. Carrier is a good brand.

    SE,

I like the way you think. We use the Carrier "infinity' all the time. Its just about the only one we use. The control is 2nd to none.

Here in mass. they are trying to pass a law that would not allow any more 80% installs as of 2007. Should make for some interesting replacement jobs ( closets, etc. ).

I'm all for the idea of putting the most energy eff. stuff in , but I think what will happen when they pass that law is, alot of 8o% units will get put in w/ no permits. We'll see.

I sold AirQuest at a previous distributor about 10 years ago. AirQuest was the low price name then of the ICP group
(Heil/Tempstar/Comfortmaker and Arcoaire). I dont recall any sidewall vent 80%'s, but would suggest that you contact a local current ICP distributor for further information.
ICP was purchased by UT/Carrier years ago, but I would expect someone at ICP can supply the data that you need to your local distributor.
    Good luck.

I just ran into the Heil rep, (same basic furnace same company under a different label) and he said absolutely NO on the sidewall venting. That furnace was not designed for that application regardless of what pipe you use. I would recommend against using a Tjernlund power venter, (which is the only way you could do this) ias it would probably cost more to install that than a new furnace would. Plus you would be adding one more headache to your system that you REALLY do NOT want to deal with.

I have seen this done in the past with a Tjerlund on 80% furnaces with the addition of a Barometric relief damper. The tjerlumd would maintain a slightly negative draw in the outlet of the BRD and final draft could then be adjusted with the counter weight. Both exhaust motors would have to have pressure switches incorporated in the circuit if not already. It was actually a pretty neat set up. This company used 26ga pipe in the exhaust... Now whether code permits, I would have to look it up. And yes, ICP makes this furnace. It's just a different tag, but is the same as Heil.
