correct insulation placement

I am preping my floor for radient heat,so far I've insulated the inner foundation with 2" extruded polystyrene, back filled and compacted and leveled.I'm also useing the same on the complete floor{32X56].My question is should I run 2"or 1"
insulation on the inside fondation past the floor insulation and to the finish floor grade? as to form a insulated pan?If so can the insulation be beveled so as not to have any insulation showing at the outter edge,Or can it be cut 1/2"below grade without cracking?

1" of XPS is enough for the perimeter of a 4" slab. If you bevel it or cut it 1/2" below grade, that little lip of concrete will probably crack off. In my basement, I left the 1" showing at finished floor edge.

If you use the concrete as your finished floor, you're just stuck with it. You might be able to cover it with some fat trim. Most finished basement walls are furred to the inside, so that should cover it all. Otherwise, your finished floor (carpet, tile, wood) will cover.
