    Back up boiler

I have a Columbia waste oil boiler that will be the primary boiler and a Buderus cast iron back up boiler. The Buderus is strictly there to back up the waste oil boiler if it should stop working or run out of waste oil. What would be the best way to pipe this combination and what controls would work best?

    buderus back up

That's one hell of a backup !!! You should install a control that will allow the backup boiler to get some run time on a regular basis. The worst thing for a boiler is to sit idle. Primary secondary is always the best set-up for running two boilers. I don't know if TEKMAR has a control where you can limit run time on one boiler, but a simple time clock and relays would be an easy set up.
