advice about tekmar controller/ overkill? Efficiency?

Yes, Outdoor Reset improves the Boilers and overall System Efficiency.

I would recommend a tekmar 260 Boiler Control instead. It has a System Pump contact which will gain you Warm Weather Shut Down, Boiler Post Purging amd Exercising for this pump and it will still provide you with Boiler Reset based on Outdoor and operates the Boiler on an automatically adjustable boiler differential based on system load to minimize boiler short cycling.

Is it worth it? I think yes. If you can shave between 20 and 30% of your customers fuel bill annually, he is looking at an investment rather than cost and it is just a matter of time before the unit is paid for (1-3 years??) before it keeps saving the money that turns then into profit.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to call me at 250-545-7749, Ext. 214.

Regards,

Mike

    Tekmar controller advice/ compatibility

Customer requested whether it made sense to use a Tekmar 256 controller for his Burnham series II boiler which has temperature differential, and wants to know if the efficiency of the system justifies the price. He has researched, and wants to use White-Rodgers zone valves with this system. The system includes only 2 loops of 750 square feet each. Burnham using standard Taco 007 circ. I never used the white-rodgers (3-wire) valves before, with most experience with circulators only, and not the computer board controllers. I know the thermostatically controlled valves will turn the boiler on, shut it down, as well as turn the circulator on/off. Should I encourage him to use a more traditional controller/ relay combo for this small system? Thanks in advance.
