Thank you for your help so far...

System is free of sludge, antifreeze is about 20 percent mix. Spiral vent was checked and was clean. 3 hydro air systems and radiant floor and some old cast iron radiation in a workshop are running off the boiler. Drained system into 50 gallon drums and buckets (100 plus gallons). Settings have been much the same over the first 11 years of its life and did not bang. Started banging shorly after a tune up 2 years ago. since then service tech has been back serveral times with no solution. Would smaller nozzle be a solution. Have had several burnham reps check it out and still unanswered. System seems to need 18 to 20 pounds of pressure to make air handler furtherst away work correctly. Banging occurs whether either during the summer when maintaining temperature or in winter firing to maintain heat in the house. Circulators do not have to operate. Banging is like a water bang.

How soon does the banging start?

Is it immediate? A smaller nozzle...maybe. However, you should ensure that the burner is set-up correctly.
