low loss headers

A low loss header is simply a hydraulic disconnect that enables the boiler flow rate to differ from the system flow rate. With certain boilers this is a big advantage because the boiler control can look at only the boiler temp and adjust itself for maximum efficiency.
A well thought out primary/secondary piping arrangement will nearly duplicate this situation.

what does a low loss header do
I have worked on several hydronic systems mostly baseboard, i am now starting to venture into the radiant marketand would like to know what exactly a low loss header does and why we should use them. Is it like a heat exchangr or just some where to alow more water to sit. do these have to be sized? any info would help0
